Organization Description :

At HART, creativity knows no bounds! As a vibrant 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, HART is dedicated to bringing the magic of community theater to life, right in the heart of Western North Carolina. Our mission is simple yet powerful: to provide diverse, high-quality theater experiences that challenge and inspire both performers and audiences while nurturing talent and fostering artistic expression within our community.

With a dynamic lineup of 14-16 thought-provoking and diverse productions each year, HART stands as a cornerstone of cultural enrichment, education, and entertainment. From young dreamers taking their first acting class to seasoned performers lighting up the stage, we’re here to nurture talent, spark creativity, and build lasting connections.

HART’s Main Stage Season is the highlight of our year, featuring 6-7 shows with well-known titles, larger cast opportunities, and grand musicals that draw large crowds from all over. Actors can audition for the full season in February, securing their place in some of the most anticipated productions of the year.

Our Winter Studio Season offers a unique platform for local actors and directors to bring their passion projects to life. This season, featuring community-submitted works, often showcases smaller casts and more edgy material, providing an opportunity to push artistic boundaries or explore new roles between January and May.

Our Academy at HART program is a beacon of opportunity for aspiring artists. With spring and fall semester classes and energetic summer camps, we inspire the next generation of performers, directors, and designers. Our classes cater to kids, teens, and adults alike, fostering creativity and skill development across all ages.

HART is powered by the passion of our small but dedicated full-time staff, a 13-member board of directors, and the energy of countless volunteers.

Join us at HART, where the stage is set for inspiration, imagination, and community spirit to shine.

Organization DEI Statement :

At HART Theatre, we believe the arts are for everyone. We are dedicated to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment where all voices are heard and valued. We strive to reflect the richness of our community in our productions and ensure that everyone has the support they need to thrive. By embracing diversity and promoting equity, we aim to create a theatre that inspires and empowers all who engage with us.
