Debbie Francis
As a military brat, I moved 17 times by age 17 and had 11 schools. As an adult, I moved 11 times as my career was not planned. I love live theater and performed in several plays through high school. I also sang in choirs during that same period. I love dance and took a couple years of dance while in school. As an adult I took 4 years of dance and taught mid-eastern (belly dancing). I performed at festivals on the Gulf Coast, Birmingham, and New Orleans and was even on television one time. I was in an AEA production when I graduated from high school in a non-speaking role as a geisha. I tried out for a role at the Gulfport Community Theater and I got the part! Unfortunately, I had to turn it down as I had accepted a job in Denver. Work interfered with my artistic efforts. Now I support the arts and am an usher for Diane Wortham and Asheville Community Theater. Although I am a senior, I do not look nor act my age. I do travel a lot so my volunteering requires flexibility. Presently, I volunteer for festivals in Asheville, Weaverville, and Black Mountain. Usually I sell and serve beer as beer drinkers are fun to tease. I am also a member of White Horse.
