Ayla Claypool

Ayla Claypool is a theatre artist, circus performer, and producer based in Asheville. With a background in Commedia Dell’Arte, aerial arts, and devising, she creates immersive, boundary-breaking performances that invite audiences to connect and co-create. Ayla spent several years performing at the Carolina Renaissance Festival, where she refined her craft in interactive, outdoor theatre. She holds multiple degrees in theatre and is always seeking opportunities to learn and grow as an artist and educator.
Ayla is the creative force behind a seasonal performance series—Dear Summer, Farewell Fall, Warm Regards, Winter, and Sincerely, Spring. Each production reimagines classic works, blending physical theatre and storytelling to celebrate connection, wildness, and vulnerability. These shows transform unconventional spaces into stages, bringing meaningful, accessible theatre to the Asheville community.
In addition to her seasonal series, Ayla has self-produced numerous shows around Asheville, amplifying local talent and fostering community engagement. Her passion for storytelling, collaboration, and devised artistry drives her mission to create theatre that resonates deeply with audiences and performers alike.
