Michaela Wright is a Mezzo-Soprano and voice teacher based in the Western Carolinas with deep roots in Central Florida. Her drive for advocacy-led performances has guided her to work with organizations such as Central Florida Vocal Arts, Boulanger Initiative, and Protestra.
She is proud to have performed with companies including Opera Orlando, City Lyric Opera, Opera del Sol, Moon River Opera, Lyric Theatre Illinois, Opera Steamboat, Sinfonia da Camara, Jacksonville Masterworks Chorale, and Orlando Sings. She has also had the privilege of performing with orchestras such as The Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra, The Prague National Theatre Orchestra, The Solaria Players, The Villages Philharmonic, and The Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra.
Some of her favorite engagements include Orfeo (Orfeo ed Euridice,) Hansel (Hansel and Gretel,) Igor Stravinsky (No. 5 world premier,) Alto Soloist (Handel’s Messiah,) The Fox (Cunning Little Vixen,) Bianca (The Rape of Lucretia,) Alto Soloist (Mozart Requiem,) Mycelia (Sensorium Ex Workshop, Beth Morrison Project,) Baseball: A Musical Love Letter, and La Boheme (directed by Nathan Gunn.)
Michaela has a special interest in early and Baroque music as is demonstrated by her upcoming recital engagement with City Lyric Opera for their Spring Baroque Festival.
Michaela holds a Master of Music in Opera Performance and Literature from The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
